Title

As a black belt candidate, there are some written assignments that are recommended for me to complete. They are there to help me on my journey to black belt. One of the written assignments is to write about five of my greatest strengths and five of my greatest weaknesses. I have been gradually working through it for a while now, and I'm pretty much done my weaknesses.

So far, I have found this assignment very valuable. I think it's helping me acknowledge my weaknesses in a better way. Usually when I think about my weaknesses, I'd feel ashamed. I'd push the thought of them to the back of my head, as if not thinking about them would make them disappear. But while I was writing, I tried to be very honest with myself. My weakness don't make me a bad person. Nobody's perfect. And acknowledging my weaknesses will help me improve on them.

I am excited to see what insights I will get from writing about my strengths. I think it's going to be quite difficult. More difficult than my weaknesses. Before I started writing my weaknesses, I had an idea of what they were, because I think about them a lot. But I have no clue where to start with my strengths. I also don't want to come across as arrogant or something. Despite that, I think I will find value in writing about them.

Motivation

In the past week or so my motivation has been very bad. I didn't want to do anything. I just wanted to lay around all day. I started to fall in to the cycle of not doing anything and then feeling bad about it. And then I wouldn't do anything because I was feeling bad.

Luckily, I stopped the cycle much earlier than I usually do. I talked to someone about it and it really helped. They gave me some good advice that I found very beneficial. Even while I was just talking about it, I already felt better. It's much easier for me to solve things out when they're out of my head. Often the solution is pretty simple, and I only realise it after talking/writing about it.

I'm actually quite proud of myself for recognising and addressing the problem so quickly. In the past it took much longer. I think next time things start to go wrong, I will blog about it. Like I said before, its much easier to manage things when they're out of my head.
